PACKAGING GUIDE

How to prepare a custom packaging brief

A clear brief makes it easier to compare packaging options. Start with the product, then describe how it will be filled, stored, shipped and sold.

Describe the product

Share the product type, dimensions and pack size. A photograph can help explain an unusual shape. If contents are sensitive to moisture, oxygen, light or handling, describe those requirements for the supplier to assess.

Explain the packaging process

Tell the supplier whether you fill by hand or with equipment. Include the desired closure and any storage or shipping conditions that affect the packaging. Do not assume that a similar-looking package has the same performance.

Bring the commercial details

Provide an estimated quantity, target market, artwork and any required label information. Ask the supplier to confirm the specification, quantity and delivery terms for the particular project.
